1974 Ford Torino
The Torino is an automobile that was manufactured and produced by Ford for the North American market for the years 1968 - 1976. The Torino gets its name from the "Italian Detroit" . The city or Turin known as "Torino" in Italian. Built as an upscale variation of the intermediate sized Fairlane. The 1974 model year saw a much more extensive revision to the Torino line. The bumpers and tail lamp panels were redesigned. The rear bumpers were much larger and squared off. Tail lamps were beveled rectangular wrap around units that made the need for side markers obsolete. The 1974 debuted with several new luxury options including, leather, power sunroof, steering wheel controls, and opera windows on the 2 door models. Due to the added weight of the redesigned Torino the 250 cu in. 6 cylinder was no longer offered as the base model. While only few with the 6 cylinder were produced it still in fact became the main car in the 2004 movie Starsky & Hutch. Other then the few 6 cylinders that were produced , all Torino and Gran Torinos came equipped with the 302-2v as the base engine with a 3 speed manual as standard equipment.
