This year model Jeep was built by Ford and was called an M151 or MUTT, which stood for Military Utility Tactical Truck. Since these vehicles were regarded as ordinance, it was illegal to resell them to the public, so most MUTTs were cut in half when they were decommisioned. There were ads on Popular Mechanics that offered a Jeep in a box for $450, which required the welding of the two halfs together. As a result, the US military began to cut the jeeps into four or more sections, or crush them. Jeep enthusiasts love this particular model for its energetic and fun driving style, and especially for its durable build. As far as collectible Military history, this car is an A-list celebrity.
